Green Since the Beginning

Since 1982, Hydrowest has been supplying innovative, cutting edge, and creative solutions to the energy marketplace. We were founded with the motive of redeveloping environmentally sensitive commercial power-plants under the Public Utilities Regulatory Policy Act of 1978. Since then, Hydrowest has operated many small-scale hydroelectric plants, managed large cogeneration projects, and consulted on dozens of renewable energy projects. Whether it is hundred megawatt combined-cycle cogeneration projects or five hundred kilowatt historic hydroplant restorations, the Hydrowest team has the creativity, expertise and resources to successfully rehabilitate otherwise 'impossible' projects.

Use Less; Provide More

The final product HydroWest delivers is clean, zero carbon-footprint energy. However, a tenant of our beliefs is that nothing exists in a vacuum: every step of our processes is considerate of the environment and community around us.

HydroWest was founded out of an effort to rehabilitate old hydroelectric plants rather than decommissioning them and building new ones, which is an incredibly wasteful process. Since then, every avenue we have explored has been concerned with reducing the waste of water, land, and energy. Applying this waste-reduction mindset to our projects has led to the creation of a world-famous art ice park using surplus water from a penstock, heated two hundred acre greenhouses with excess heat from thermal plants, and many other waste-reduction endeavors.

Niche Consultancy

After 4 decades of working in such a specialized realm, no one knows the ins and outs of unconventional and antique hydroelectric power plants quite like HydroWest does. We have consulted on dozens of projects across the United States and abroad, and offer unparalleled advice for the little niche that we inhabit.
